I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.
Cancer has taken so much from us. Whether it is a loved one,
family member, friend or closer to home, cancer is relentless.
Unfortunately, there is very few among us who don’t have a cancer story,
In years gone by the knowledge of cancer was low.
In the early 80’s our mum saw here GP about a skin irritation on her neck, initially the diagnosis was “brushed off” and deem as as some sort of scar tissue.
After a year and the irritation still being present mum visited a different doctor who then referred her to a specialist. This was the first time she had been diagnosed with Cancer.
Thanks to ongoing research facilities like the Perkin mum lived until 2018. Over this nearly 40-year period fighting with Cancer she bravely underwent many procedures.
Our Dad was always by her side but unfortunately in 2012 he was diagnosed with a tumor in his pleural cavity, worst still because of the location and size it was deemed too late to operate and remove it.
Less than a year latter our mentor, leader and hero was gone.
On Saturday 11 October and Sunday 12 October 2025, side by side with friends and family I’m taking a stand against cancer and backing the brilliant brains at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
These WA researchers are committed to finding answers faster and developing ground-breaking treatments for the hardest to treat cancers.
Because no one should have to hear those two life-altering words, “It’s cancer.”
I will pedal alongside my
fellow riders who share the dream of making cancer non-lethal. Your support can
turn this dream into reality.
Many riders return every year because they know that the funds we raise go back
to the Perkins. It is also a worst kept secret that the Ride is the friendliest
cycling charity event in Australia. Why not join me in making a difference?
Whether you join me on the Ride or contribute to my fundraising page, your
generous support matters.
Together, we can conquer cancer.
