Training going strong!
3 weeks out and a big weekend of training in the bag. Managed 60km on Saturday and 90km from home to Devonport and back on Sunday. About 6 hours of riding and 150km all up so hoping I'll be good for another 50km for the event. Really appreciate all the support so far - it makes all the training worth it!Riding for Romy
When I was 18 I flatted with a girl called Romy. She was kind and funny and always insisted that no flat meal could be had without grated cheese.
Romy had a zest for life but cancer stopped it far too short. She died with cancer aged 19.
Cancer has taken so much from us. Friends like Romy, loved ones, and family members...cancer is relentless.
I want to honour Romy and others who fight cancer everyday - both those who have or are living with it and those like my amazing wife Louisa (a haematologist) who put everything into trying to detect, treat and beat cancer for their patients - by riding 200kms to raise vital funds for cancer research.
Your donations will go to the brilliant minds at the Perkins who are committed to ending cancer through breakthroughs that will lead to improved health outcomes for those affected by the hardest-to-treat diseases.
I am so proud to work with Perkins through my role at Donor Republic in supporting the Cancer200 and am excitedly scared to be taking on the ride.
Without a doubt, it will be the toughest ride I've ever done but it pales next to the enormous challenges, fear and uncertainty cancer brings.
It would mean a lot to me to have your support by making a donation. And together, we can conquer cancer for people like Romy.
Thank you!
